Founded in 1975 by Sean Hennelly, the company first acquired excavators and associated plant and equipment to work on civil engineering contracts with major clients including Amey, Amec, Balfour Beatty and Costain.
Since these early beginnings, we have built on this base by steady investment in plant, some of it unique in its field, to enable specific tasks to be performed on an ongoing basis. We have always believed in investing in innovation and in our team to achieve the absolute maximum for our clients.
We have compiled this short illustration to show our experience and commitment to the Civil Engineering Industry. Hennellys has been committed to this industry for over 40 years, and we see ourselves remaining committed. We will give our client the ultimate he will ever get in terms of experience, commitment, recourses and sheer determination to get the job complete, within the time limitations and the budgetary constraints, but without forfeiting anything on the quality.

Working with Amey on the CTRL project, we introduced the UK’s first multi-drum cable laying machine. Our in-house designed and built machine enabled the laying of 70km of CTRL signalling infrastructure in record time. This can-do approach demonstrates our initiative when faced with challenging projects. This machine is now an RRV, capable of travelling up to 30km per day. Proven as a fast and very cost effective proposition, it requires just 5 operatives.
